he Unicorn P
rotection Device, or
UPD, is a little Red Rubber Ball that began
as an inspiration from "Child Proof The Unicorns" by John "The Gneech" Robey.Back in May of 2002, I created the UHP-AD (Unicorn Hug Protection Alarm Device) which contains a UPD.

The UPD made its first appearance in the In Case of Unicorn Hugs topic in the Freefall Forum, where it became a regular item found in the Welcome Basket for our Newbies who entered the Freefall Forum. The UPD has made numerous appearances in messages throughout the Freefall Forum.
A bouncing Red Rubber Ball was located and used in several messages throughout the Freefall Forum.
A smiley was discovered and modified to become this:

The Red Rubber Ball (UPD) has made a series of guest appearances in the following online comics:
