When I asked, "Which photo of the Beth The White Guardian costume or piece of artwork inspirled you?" to compose "The $6,000 Unicorn."  Steven replied, "Actually, the whole set contributed, along with the info you posted elsewhere about unicorns that had to lose their alicorn to achieve anthropomorphism.  I thought about that, and most of the good reasons I could think of for one to choose to do that, were rather romantic-sounding.  Having to sacrifice part of yourself to be able to 'walk with the people,' so to speak.  Now that's something that would fit well into a story."
